Breast Cancer Awareness Month |
October is marked as Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) worldwide. The aim of BCAM is to create awareness of breast cancer and to teach women to go for regular mammography screening to detect breast cancer early, and save lives.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among females in Singapore. Every year, about 270 women die of breast cancer and about 1,100 new cases are diagnosed. All women are at risk of breast cancer and this risk increases with age. Early detection through regular mammography screening is the key to reducing the number of deaths from breast cancer. Women aged 50 years or older are encouraged to go for regular mammography screening, once every two years. Take this opportunity to organise a group mammography screening session for your employees. You can do this by arranging to have the Mammobus come by your workplace. To make a reservation, please contact Ms Lee Jen Nee from National Healthcare Group Diagnostics at DID 6-496 6633 or email Lee@diagnostics.nhg.com.sg.
