Singapore’s premier World AIDS Day concert generates enthusiastic response

29th November 2008, saw the staging of Singapore’s first World AIDS Day concert, with 3600 people attending the event at Fort Canning Park. The crowd was entertained by local artistes such as Electrico, Hady Mirza and Stephanie Sun. Hossan Leong and the Dim Sum Dollies were hot favourites too, generating laughs from the crowd as they raised awareness about HIV/AIDS, through the messages contained in their humorous acts. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

Post-event coverage by local entertainment media channels and internet bloggers reflected a similar enthusiasm.

The concert’s main sponsors were Keppel Offshore & Marine, Prosafe Productions and Levi’s®. Apex-Pal International and M.A.C. were the supporting sponsors and the Singapore National Employer’s Federation (SNEF) was one of the supporting partners.

The event represented a good avenue for HPB to collaborate with the private sector to bring across HIV/AIDS awareness to workplaces and the community. We look forward to future collaborations with companies for the World AIDS Day event in 2009.
