1. How do I participate in The New Paper Auction?
Step 1: Decide on your bid amount.
Step 2: SMS your bid to 79777 in the following format -
TNP<space>Product Code<space>Bid Amount<space>Full Name<space>NRIC
Example: TNP A1 30000 John Tan S1234567A
2. How do I know if my SMS is received?
You will receive an acknowledgement SMS. However, do note that you will need to bid in the correct format stipulated. You
will still get an acknowledgement SMS even though you have keyed in the wrong information or product code.
-- Why do I get an acknowledgement that my SMS is received then?
This is to acknowledge that we have received your SMS, but it is not proof that your SMS bid is valid, and/or in the correct format.
3. Will I be charged for every SMS sent?
Yes, each SMS is chargeable at $0.20. All SMS bids must be sent in the correct format stipulated. Otherwise your bid will be
considered invalid.
-- Can you refund me if I have sent my SMS bid in the wrong format?
Sorry, we will not be able to refund you.
4. Can I bid for more than one item?
Yes, you are allowed to bid for more than one item. However, your bid has to be equal to, or above the minimum bid listed for
each respective item.
5. Can I send multiple bids in a single SMS?
No, our system only recognises one bid in one SMS. Please follow the format stipulated.
6. When can I start bidding for the respective items?
You can start bidding once the respective series is opened.
The valid period for bidding will be as such:
Series 1
From 00:00 on 27 April 2009 to 23:59 on 10 May 2009
Series 2
From 00:00 on 11 May 2009 to 23:59 on 24 May 2009
Series 3
From 00:00 on 25 May 2009 to 23:59 on 7 June 2009
Series 4
From 00:00 on 8 June 2009 to 23:59 on 21 June 2009
Series 5
From 00:00 on 22 June 2009 to 23:59 on 5 July 2009
7. Is it necessary to present original copies of TNP$ to support my bid?
Yes, the winner with the highest bid for each product must present original copies of TNP$ in order to claim the prize. Only
original TNP$ printed on The New Paper will be accepted.
8. What happens if I have insufficient TNP$ to match my bid?
You will be disqualified, and the person with the next highest bid will be declared the winner, once we verify that he/she has
sufficient TNP$ to match his/her bid. You can keep your TNP$ to bid for items in the other series.
9. How will I know if I have won?
Winners will be notified via phone on the first Thursday after the respective series has ended.
In addition to that, the results will also be posted on The New Paper.
10. What happens in the event of a tie?
In the event of a tie in TNP$ value, the earlier bid will be the winning bid. |
